  Music has often been used as a platform for bands to take a stance on what they believe; an open stage upon which they feel free to voice their opinions on social and political events. In 1979, the Islamic Revolution had ended and the Ayatollah placed a ban on all Western music. This political move inspired The Clash to write their 1982 song, ‘Rock the Casbah’, about how an entire nation disobeyed the king when he banned rock and roll.
