  Fans of Dr. Demento know him. Weird Al Yankovic has said he “is one of my two living musical idols;” he’s talking about Tom Lehrer, the 86-year-old who penned only 37 songs but made an immeasurable mark. In 1959, the year that the New York Times wrote that “Mr. Lehrer’s muse is not fettered by such inhibiting factors as taste,” he released his second studio album, “More of Tom Lehrer.” It contained a dark little ditty entitled “Poisoning Pigeons in the Park.”
